FAMILY: Athena’s parents are Geoffrey Elmtree, a British Muggle, and Sophia Stratos, a Pure-blood witch from a Greek Wizarding family. Her parents are divorced, and she has two siblings. Her older sister Adelphie is twenty, has already graduated from Hogwarts, and lives with their mother in Greece. Her brother Lysander is thirteen and a third year Ravenclaw. He and Athena live with their father in Oxford at Christmas and for two weeks of the summer.

BIOGRAPHY: Athena had a rather eventful childhood. She grew up in a predominantly Muggle environment, as agreed upon by their parents, but she attended several different primary schools because her family would have to travel often due to her father’s job in the army. She also usually spent (and still does spend) every summer in Kos, Greece, with her grandparents. As a result, Athena found it very difficult to settle down and make any friends. She was a quiet, sensitive child, contrasting sharply with her overconfident sister, who found it very easy to integrate herself into any new environment, and while she was outside playing with her new mates, Athena would contend herself with being alone, making up imaginary friends or reading books. After Adelphie began to attend Hogwarts when Athena was seven, she became even more introverted.

She began to attend Hogwarts at the age of eleven and was sorted into Hufflepuff, unlike her siblings who both became Ravenclaws. She became good friends with Alice Prewett after a little while and began to feel more confident and talk to others more. However, when Athena had just finished her third year, her parents announced that they were getting divorced, and her mother promptly moved back to Greece, taking her older sister, who had just graduated, with her. It hurt Athena very much, particularly since she now spends every summer in Kos with her mother and sister, and rarely sees her father, although she does not like to talk about it with other people. The one good thing to come out of her parent’s divorce is that she became much closer to her younger brother, and is very protective of him. So protective that she once picked a fight with James Potter and Sirius Black after witnessing the two boys picking on Lysander, which was very out of character for meek Athena.

Athena is currently in her sixth year at Hogwarts, and is happy enough with her life in general, although terribly lonely. She is also the female Hufflepuff Prefect. Since her third year, she has had a hopeless crush on Remus Lupin, although she can never bring herself to talk to him and becomes speechless whenever he addresses her at Prefects meetings or says hello to her in the corridor. She is teased a little by her closest friends as a result. She is in the process of studying for the N.E.W.T exams which are coming up next year, and her subjects are: Transfiguration, Potions, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Astronomy, and Ancient Runes.

PERSONALITY: Athena lives in her own little world most of the time, as she is incredibly idealistic and likes to spend her time daydreaming or making up stories. She is not academically brilliant, but she works extremely hard, which often earns her fairly good results, particularly in Ancient Runes. Making friends is not particularly easy for her as she is very shy, but when she does become close to someone she will do anything for that person, and is a very sweet, trustworthy and loyal friend. She would absolutely never tell a lie to a friend, would not speak a bad word against another person, and is very unobtrusive, preferring to keep her nose out of other people’s business until she is asked for help. She is also undoubtedly romantic, and spends a lot of time writing anonymous love letters to a certain sixth year named Remus, letters which unfortunately often land in the hands of his extremely amused mates.

Athena really dislikes confrontation of any kind, and does not really know how to stand up for herself, and can sometimes let other people walk all over her as she is so eager to help her friends. She is indecisive, and can be easily swayed by other people’s opinions. She is also painfully shy, and although she has no problem with talking to younger students as a Prefect because that is her job, she finds it very, very difficult to interact with some of her peers, and would rather die than talk to somebody she has a crush on. She was too shy to try out for the Hufflepuff Quidditch team, even though she is a very good flier, and her self confidence issues make it hard to get close to her, because although she loves to listen to her friends, there aren’t many people who she confides in.

APPEARANCE: Athena is fairly tall and skinny, with a slightly boyish frame. She has long brown hair that she often styles unusually, and brown eyes. Her skin is tanned, and she is prone to the odd outbreak of spots, but not often. She likes make-up and dressing up, so when she is not in her Hogwarts uniform she is usually wearing something pretty (and white, which is her favourite colour). She is very soft spoken and has a quiet, melodious voice.
